You Are Towing

Step 1: Required Equipment to Tow

Before you arrive, it is imperative to make sure your tow vehicle is in good working condition, meets the renter’s insurance requirements and has the proper working equipment and towing capacity. If you are  unsure, I would be happy to assist you.  Here is a list of the basic towing equipment you will need:

  • Proper Hitch class and weight rating for rented camper

  • Receiver Hitch with 2 5/16” ball (Adjustable ball-mount hitch highly recommended)

    • (A Weight distribution and sway control hitch is available on most units)

  • 7 way round connector for trailer lights and brakes

  • Brake Controller (Not installed? Purchase on amazon from $30)

Note: It is highly recommended that you check your vehicles trailer wiring and brake controller operate properly before arrival. Non-working or unsafe equipment will prevent you from the use of the camper and delays will result in late pickup fees.

Step 2: Required Paperwork

We need you to have your tow-vehicles insurance agent complete the applicable Liability Only Request Form below. IMPORTANT: Please let your insurance agent know: The travel trailer HAS comprehensive and collision insurance included with the reservation. We just need to verify your tow-vehicles Liability Insurance will transfer to the rented travel trailer.

Select the camper you have reserved for the appropriate Liability Request Form:

We will complete a few forms prior to your departure that will include needing your initials and  signature. The person listed on the reservation must be present for pickup and delivery. Here are the  documents I will need from the listed renter:  (Having copies made, emailed, or texted prior to arrival can help save time!)

  • Proof of Insurance (Tow vehicle)   (You must verify with your insurance provider that you can tow a rented travel trailer)

  • Copy of Drivers License for every Driver.

  • Contact Information

  • Coordinate a pickup time. The standard pickup time is 3:00pm.

    • Wanting to get on the road early? We can be flexible with pickup and drop-off times as long as it does not interfere with a reservation before or after yours and we have the availability. • Please plan accordingly and show up on-time to avoid any late fees. If you find yourself running late, please call/text us as soon as possible. We will work with you the best we can. Communication is key!

If you find yourself running late, please text/call us as soon as possible. We will work with you the best we can. Communication is key!

  • Additionally to the educational walk-through, we will demonstrate how you would setup the camper at your campsite. Don't worry, we have convenient setup and departure checklists for assistance!

  • Lastly, we will instruct you with attaching/detaching the camper to your tow vehicle. This will include techniques on how to secure and level the RV using provided equipment such as leveling blocks, chocks and tongue jack.

Note: It is the renters responsibility (or approved driver) for making sure the camper is securely attached to the tow vehicle prior to departing and throughout the reservation period.

Step 5: Checkout/Returning the Camper

  • You will need to return the RV/camper by 1:00 pm EDT on the last day of your rental, unless other approved arrangements have been made.
